mission

They were Yours, You gave them to Me . . . —John 17:6

A missionary is someone in whom the Holy Spirit has brought about this realization: “You are not your own” ( 1 Corinthians 6:19 ). To say, “I am not my own,” is to have reached a high point in my spiritual stature. The true nature of that life in actual everyday confusion is evidenced by the deliberate giving up of myself to another Person through a sovereign decision, and that Person is Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit interprets and explains the nature of Jesus to me to make me one with my Lord, not that I might simply become a trophy for His showcase. Our Lord never sent any of His disciples out on the basis of what He had done for them. It was not until after the resurrection, when the disciples had perceived through the power of the Holy Spirit who Jesus really was, that He said, “Go” (Matthew 28:19; also see Luke 24:49 and Acts 1:8 ). “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple” ( Luke 14:26 ). He was not saying that this person cannot be good and upright, but that he cannot be someone over whom Jesus can write the word Mine. Any one of the relationships our Lord mentions in this verse can compete with our relationship with Him. I may prefer to belong to my mother, or to my wife, or to myself, but if that is the case, then, Jesus said, “[You] cannot be My disciple.” This does not mean that I will not be saved, but it does mean that I cannot be entirely His.

Our Lord makes His disciple His very own possession, becoming responsible for him. “. . . you shall be witnesses to Me . . .” ( Acts 1:8 ). The desire that comes into a disciple is not one of doinganything for Jesus, but of being a perfect delight to Him. The missionary’s secret is truly being able to say, “I am His, and He is accomplishing His work and His purposes through me.”

Be entirely His!

Full Length Travel the Road Episode!

Episode 1 – “Age of Discovery: The Zambezi River”
A daring 450km journey down the Zambezi river brings Tim and Will to the majestic sight of Victoria Falls.  But before they can reach Africa’s largest cascade of water, they will face territorial hippos, alligators with a taste for human blood, treacherous jungle rapids, and witch doctors who despise their mission.  It is a journey of discovery, both of a remote river and the heart of man, as death is faced everyday and the message of the gospel is preached with every breath.

Monsters Lurk at Night

Once again on our journey along the Amazon food must be hunted. This Croc we caught alive, so we shut the snout with a rope. Just before this video was taken the massive reptile lashed at me (Tim). This area of Brazil has been a blessing to travel as there is such a movement for the Holy Spirit.  We also came across an Assemblies of God in Tefe that was building a new church the size of a small stadium. The shocking thing is Tefe is only 80,000 in population. This must mean a large percentage of people attend regularly. Praise God!

The croc was cooked later in the day and fed 15 people. We were on river for 4 days at this point. No showers, hot sun, but good food. Praise God!

Lab Destroyed!

Explosives set, and safely from the LZ we blow the lab. Blackhawk descends to extract team.

From the air you can see the magnitude of blast. Also near end of video you can see the second team blackhawk circling below. Mission was successful and all members back safe. Three days before this operation, three eradicators team members were killed on a mission we were supposed to be on.

Mission Accomplished

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z3OgXPj8Nc&rel=0] Burned 2 labs now loading back on Blackhawk. Wash from blades so strong nearly knocked us over.

Mission accomplished. Everyone safe. This operation occured near the border of Ecuador and Colombia.

Cocaine Lab in Colombia

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p29WTIEkaDg&rel=0] This lab was seized and it was more advanced than labs in Peru. It included presses and ovens to produce cocaine chloride, which is the final product. After the video you see here, the lab was burned and coca fields were destroyed. One booby trap in the field was found and purposely exploded. Colombia produces 80% of the world's cocaine. This is a forgotten war, but necessary to fight. Addiction holds many people ransom and void of the gospel. In the word it says, "How can one hear without a preacher?" That is certainly true and it can also be said in our time, "How can one hear when high?"

Burning the Cocaine Labs

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIf7OVg8QIs&rel=0] The chemicals of acids and kerosene make the fire explode.  Everything must be destroyed.  The blaze was very intense and put off a repulsive smell.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqV-aNwi_oE&rel=0]

Blaze gets going!  You can see how fast the fire explodes.  However, as we moved to seize another lab the fire was unrecognizable when we traveled 100 feet farther into the jungle.

After the mission we drove 4-hours back to Pucallpa in the night.

This is an image of our interpreter Joseph shows how dusty the ride home was. We returned to our base at 1:30 AM.

Cocaine Lab Seizure!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3ZqDI9ahSM&rel=0] Will at lab sight 2 minutes after seizure.  You can see we are all out of breath and trying to take in everything that just happened.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwXNHKk-540&rel=0]

Immediately after the cocaine-workers were captured the Dinandro soldiers set themselves to breaking down the crude lab.  The mounds of what looks like dead leaves are exactly that.  Those are coca leaves awaiting processing from this lab.

Jungle Narcotics Mission

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C41HXOJrKSc&rel=0] March into jungle.  This video was 15 minutes into our hike towards the cocaine labs.  notice the clearing we come across.  This is one of the many illegal coca fields we saw en route to the jungle lab.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfRJub1oYr0&rel=0]

This next video is ten minutes before the first seizure.  Many times we would halt for a moment in the jungle to maintain silence and the element of surprise.
