Arise

Arise

New Beginnings: “Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. “For behold, darkness will cover the earth. And deep darkness the peoples; But the LORD will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you.”Isaiah 60:1-2. Amid great disaster and extreme challenges God moves in mighty ways and calls people to accomplish extraordinary things. Joseph was sold by his brothers into slavery and rose to high office in order to help his family. Moses was called to lead the Israelites out of bondage and into a land of their own — the Promise Land. Jonah survived three days and three nights in the belly of the whale and went on to preach and convince the people of Nineveh to repent. The Bible is filled with accounts of people that were put into extraordinary and dangerous situations who ultimately rose to the challenge and accomplished their God-given mission. Out of great hardships and dark times, God calls people who the world thought unworthy and unimportant to do amazing things in uncertain times. We now live in uncertain times, and like the days of old, God will call many who will go forward under the power of the Holy Spirit and accomplish much. He will use it to break up and tear down the worldly tendencies of the church and restore the truth of the Gospel. People will seek truth and they will find it, for a new beginning has begun. Out of the darkness, the light of God will shine.

Unto the Breach: This phrase appears in Act-III, Scene-I of Shakespeare’s play, Henry V. The scene begins in the middle of the blockade of Harfleur, as King Henry’s army has destroyed some French fortifications. He encourages his army to attack the city again by uttering these famous lines: “Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more…” If ever we lived in a time for a rallying cry it is now. The world is in a state of shock, and many who do not know Christ Jesus will be seeking truth in the days to come. This is where the church must arise and once more head unto the breach, dear friends, once more. Long past should be the days when believers complain about if they are called or not called, or hearing the voice of the Lord. Now is the time to head unto the breach and speak the name of Jesus. The world can change in an instant, and it has, and standing before us is a ready harvest of souls who are seeking Him. We must not shy from this challenge, but be ready in the days to come. This virus will end and life will resume, but the church must heed the call and once more head unto the breach.

Season and Change: Throughout history, the human race passes through seasons of change. We have times of peace, times of war, times of plagues, times of plenty, times of hardship. These events cycle around and around, again and again. They might be shocking and catch the world unaware when they happen, but they occur nonetheless. The lessons one should learn from the events that have unfolded over these past months is that our world, that seemed so secure and unshakeable, is actually fragile and susceptible. It takes no stretch of the imagination to see how quickly the end times could come upon the Earth. We aren’t there yet, but it is a reminder to those who follow Christ Jesus to be ever aware that a day will come when the sound of the trumpet will blow and Christ will return. Be ready and be vigilant, and during this season of change may we all set our eyes on the things above.

At Travel the Road, we believe that the church will become stronger and wiser during this time. We also want to be at the forefront of encouraging believers to arise in Him. In the days ahead, many people around the world will be seeking answers to the true meaning of life and we’ll need more missionaries on the field to tell them the Good News. It’s for this reason, to encourage prospective missionaries, that we create new seasons and episodes of Travel the Road.

In Him,

Tim and Will
