He is Our Protector
"Are you ever worried about your safety?” is a question we hear a lot and one that we love to answer. All throughout the Bible we see the Lord telling His children not to fear and to trust in His power and protection. In this message we are going to look at some of those scriptures and see why fear is used as a scheme of the enemy to keep us from living a confident and abundant life in Him and for Him. We will also look at ways in which we as children of God can fight fear with faith.
Fear is what the enemy uses to keep one stagnant and paralyzed. For example, if you were to let the fear of getting in a car accident rule your life then you would probably never drive a car and therefore have to stay home a lot or avoid driving altogether. That fear has affected your life tremendously because you now can only do things inside your home or within walking distance. Same goes with missions. If we let fear keep us from going to a remote jungle tribe or to a dangerous war zone, then we are letting the enemy win because if we do not go, then who will hear the Word of God and believe in their hearts? In Ephesians 6: 16, 17 it says,
"In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
The only offensive part of the armor of God is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. We must know what God says in scripture about victory, triumph, and protection for a child of God. With those scriptures available to us, we take them in, declare them, and hold them up as a shield of faith to extinguish all the shots fired from the enemy. We must use His Word as a weapon against the enemy and let truth sink into our hearts and reign in our minds. With the Word of God and Faith we can truly walk in boldness, victory, and complete confidence in God's protection. Think about it simply. If Father God sent His one and only Son to this earth to bear the weight of all your sin not only to give you eternal life but also so He can have you reconciled back to Him in a face-to-face relationship, do you think He would let you perish? Do you think He would want you to stay stagnant and never go out and tell people about His Son's death and the life that is available in Him? This scripture from John 10:29 says it perfectly,
"My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand."
This is directly from Jesus' mouth. He is your Shepherd and looks after you; He will protect you and guide you. He loves faith. He loves it when we depend on Him and trust His Word. He has equipped us with so many gifts and tools such as His Holy Spirit, Prayer, and the Word of God. In 1 John 4:18 it says, "Perfect love casts out fear..." Let us look to the perfect love that is in Christ Jesus and let it mold our minds and hearts on "fear". The same love that rescued the earth and the same power that conquered the grave lives in you! How can we hold that in? How can we let the enemy keep us from giving that love and power away? How can we fear? The Almighty God of the universe is constantly watching and caring for us, His sheep. We must believe that and walk in these truths that are found in the Bible.
Throughout the past 15 years of ministry we have seen the Lord’s mighty hand protect and save us from many dangerous events. From being stalked by lions in Africa to being stuck in a blizzard in the Gobi desert, the Lord has always protected and delivered us from harm so that His message may go forth. We still walk in that confidence and security today as we take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
Listed below are just some of the many scriptures found in the Bible about the Lord's protection, deliverance, and power. We pray that His Word would transform your mind and heart to form a radical trust and unwavering faith in Him. For what can we say if we did not go? Who will tell them about the grace and life in Him? May we always trust Him and go forth with confidence and power.
