Notes on Healing: Part One
Notes on Healing: Part One
As humans, we are all acquainted with sickness and disease. It touches each of our lives at some point, but many don’t know that God can heal them. In the coming months, we will highlight important notes on healing and outline what the Word of God says about the subject. We pray that it be a blessing to you.
It IS God’s Will to Heal You: Often times, believers will question whether it is truly God’s will to heal. Sometimes Christians will say in times of distress or affliction, “Who knows what the will of God is? Perhaps this sickness is His plan for a greater good?” or they will proclaim without knowledge that, “God’s will is mysterious and indiscernible” or furthermore pray in unbelief saying, “Lord, if it’s Your will, heal me.” Simply stated, those types of comments are unbelief and the opposite of what the Bible says. Healing is part of God’s redemptive plan.
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with his stripes we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:4-5.
“This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.” — Matthew 8:17
“And He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.” — 1 Peter 2:24
We see from these scriptures that healing is part of God’s redemptive plan. You wouldn’t pray for someone, “Lord, if it’s Your will, save this person.” No, because you know what the Bible says, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9. So, if we can clearly know that it’s God’s will to save all mankind, we should also recognize it’s His will also for us to be healed in our bodies. Healing is God’s will.
Sickness Comes from Satan, Not from God: "You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” — Acts 10:38. The Bible refers to sickness as an oppression of the devil. Satan is the oppressor, but praise God, Jesus is the deliverer and the healer. In Luke chapter 13 it talks of the woman who was doubled over in a bent position whom Jesus healed, saying in verse 16, “And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?" Notice it says, “Satan has bound”, not God. It’s important to understand that God wants the best for you and Satan wants to oppress you. Satan is the destroyer. If you mix up the characteristics of the Satan and God you will have a gloomy view of the Almighty. You will be frustrated and blame God for the acts Satan is visiting upon you. Don’t do that, for that is exactly what the enemy wants. Here is a perfect scripture to show the true characters of God and Satan. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. ‘I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.’” — John 10:10-11.
Faith for Healing: “And a woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.” But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had gone out of Me.” When the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell down before Him, and declared in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” — Luke 8:43-48. In this scripture, we see that healing was brought about through this woman's faith. It’s important to note, that even if you are a believing Christian you can still have unbelief about healing. If you don’t believe God heals, you cannot receive the promises of His healing. For example, when Jesus returned to his hometown of Nazareth he encountered an unbelieving crowd. “He came to His hometown and began teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers? “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? “And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” And they took offense at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and in his own household.” And He did not do many miracles there because of their unbelief.” — Matthew 13:55-58. Here is an example of unbelief standing in the way of miracles and healings. Don’t make the same mistake in your life. Believe God! For He heals the sick and sets free those who are oppressed by the devil. Reach out in faith to receive the healing that is rightfully yours. Amen!
Right now, if you are sick or have an affliction we would like to share a prayer that you can stand upon for your healing. Say it in belief and stand upon the Word of God. “Lord, I thank you that it is Your will to heal me. I thank you that by your stripes I am healed. I ask you to forgive all my sins and I rebuke any oppression of the devil from my body — devil, I command you to go in Jesus name. According to the Word of God, I am healed. I thank you, Jesus, that every part of my body is made whole. I receive it and believe it as I speak now. I praise you Lord that I am healed in the name of Jesus! Amen.”
